4 Million and Counting...AKC CAR Celebrates Milestone!
Peaches, a 5-month-old AKC registered German Shepherd, just became an extra-special dog. Peaches, owned by Tom and Anne Decker of West Hartford, Connecticut, is the 4 millionth pet enrolled and protected by AKC Companion Animal Recovery. Thanks to a rice-sized microchip, if Peaches ever becomes lost, he can be easily identified and quickly reunited with his family.
Peaches was honored on Thursday, May 14th on the steps of the Connecticut State Capitol along with Connecticut State Police K-9 officers.
As the 4 millionth enrollee, Peaches received a framed certificate and his lifetime AKC CAR enrollment was upgraded to include Pet Poison Helpline™ support and Lost Pet Alert services. Peaches will also receive a new Spotlight GPS Pet Locator collar unit with a two-year service plan from PAW (Positioning Animals Worldwide) and AKC CAR enabling 24/7 recovery assistance expertise if Peaches ever gets lost.
To celebrate AKC CAR’s historic milestone and to stay true to its non-profit mission of "giving back" to the pet community, AKC CAR donated 50 microchips and free lifetime recovery service enrollments to all 80 Connecticut State Police K-9 officers.
